Cub Scout Space Derby

This year the Cub Scout Pack did the Space Derby.  The boys had so much fun making their "space ships."  Dylan made his a shark,  and Jayden made his a bus.  They were very creative, and did just about everything themselves.  

Watching my boys compete in something like this always pulls a little on the heart strings and can make a little of the Mama Bear come out.  You feel happiness and joy as they succeed.  Or you feel heartbreak when they don't.  Jayden's space ship did amazing.  He was so fun to watch as he was so excited and was literally jumping up and down, as if it would help it go faster.  He won all the Wolf Den, and then took 3rd when all the winners competed against each other.  During the finals, his ship tied in one of the races.  It was intense in there, and a lot of fun for Jayden.

Dylan loves competitions, and dreams the biggest of earning a trophy of any kid I know.  He always really, really, really wants to win, and his hopes so high, that it's quite hard for him when he doesn't achieve what he was hoping for. As the Mom, this is so hard for me, and my heart always aches with him.  Dylan's ship did pretty good, but we think all the shark fins might have slowed it down a bit.  He was quite disappointed his didn't go faster.  He was a good sport about it all, and I hope it was still a fun experience for him.
