Happy Birthday Ethan

Happy Birthday to this boy! He is four years old, and loves to tell people that he is that many.

Ethan had a fabulous day. For his party he insisted we needed to go to Burger King for dinner. A new one just opened up by us, and he has been asking, and asking when we would get to eat there.

Dylan and Jayden were both really cute about giving presents to Ethan. Just the weekend before we had gone to the Rock and Gem Show in Spanish Fork. They each brought some money with them. Jayden bought several rock candy sticks. Dylan bought lots of rocks. On Ethan's birthday Jayden told me he wanted to give Ethan some of his rock candy. So, I helped him wrap one up. Later that day, Dylan said he wanted to give Ethan one of his rocks. We found an old jewelry box that he could stick it in, and we wrapped it up.

We have a lot of trains at our house, but Ethan has been asking for more trains since before Christmas, so I finally decided to give in and let him have some more. He was sooo excited!

Ethan had decided to have a Toy Story Party. His last two have been Thomas the Tank Engine parties, and I was suprised that he even changed this year, given how much he still loves trains. He helped me find a picture of a cake online that he wanted me to make, and I modified it slightly to simplify. I think it turned out great!

I love this picture!

Ethan is a fun little boy. He has a mind of his own, and says the funniest things all the time. He has such a love of life, and is very cheerful and fun to be around. He loves to play with his brothers and his friends. His favorite toys are his trains. He loves to carry around small special toys, like his wallet from Philmont, two little toy dog figurines, trains, and anything else that is special to him at the moment. He loves to save the stickers he gets from preschool and at the store. He is very particular about things, like the order tasks are completed, or the way you tuck him in at night. His best friends right now are Cade Hansen, Ethan Dahl, and Graham Winzeler. He loves the color blue. He loves to give hugs and kisses. He is also my little buddy, and gets sad if I don't take him along with me when I go places. He is such a bright spot in our family, and we are so glad to have him be a part of our family!

Ethanisms

I don't know why, but on this post it is not keeping things on separate lines. I keep re-editing this post, pushing the "return" button to space things back out, and it just isn't staying for some reason. The stars separate the separate instances. Mom: Did you brush your teeth? Ethan: Yes. Mom: No, I don't think you did, that's not honest. Ethan: Yes, I did it in my head. **** Ethan: My brain just maked me. **** Ethan: Does my brain have a remote control?

Happy Birthday Dylan

Dylan is officially 8 years old!

We celebrated by beginning the day with Lucky Charms and Fruity Pebbles for breakfast. Then a little later we headed off to see the BYU vs. Wyoming basketball game. The boys had never been to a basketball game before. We had some free tickets, and Dylan thought it would be fun to do that for his birthday, so that is just what we did. It was a lot of fun, and the boys really enjoyed it. They also really enjoyed the popcorn, licorice, and sour patch kids, too.

Later, we had a fun Star Wars party at our house, with just our own little family and Grandma Gibson. Dylan got spoiled with a Star Wars t-shirt, lots of Star Wars toys, a game of checkers/chess, new snorkel gear (from Grandma - replacing his beloved set that broke last year), and a game from Grandma Kirk.

Dylan posed the figures for the top of his cake.

I bought some trick candles, and dad put all 8 of them on his cake. Dylan couldn't figure out why the candles kept relighting. Ethan tried to help him to, and eventually Mom and Dad. Not even Dad could get them out by pinching them with a bit of spit. We had to get some water and dunk them to finally finish them off.

Karate Kid

Dylan earned his yellow belt a few weeks back. He did a "Little Ninja" program a few years ago and loved it. The only downfall for me was how far away the dojo was. When another company opened up a location around the corner from us, we tried it out, and decided to start doing karate again. It is amazing to see the improvements Dylan has made these last few months!
